The purpose of this unit is to develop chairs as effective leaders who understand the scope and limits of their role and are able to develop a collaborative culture across the governing body and with leaders in the school.
Unit 1 will help you to improve your leadership of the governing body by developing:

Your knowledge and understanding of:
Leadership in general and in schools and academies

Your role as chair of governors, and the boundaries and responsibilities of that role
